I have to get this off my chest

The last class period was a tough one for me. We still do not have a solid idea. And every time I bring up an idea it gets shot down immediately. Three of our group members want one idea and one person wants another, when it comes down to it majority rules and we will go with my idea. But I will go over both ideas and give good reasons why my idea is better and relates to todays society.

So as you know we are no longer doing horror, we are going with Austin's idea of a drama/mystery film. His idea was that the film centers around one boy who recently lost his best friend, we find out that he had something to do with his death and made it staged as a murder. Our opening for this film was a shot of the scene of his death, without his body there. For example we want the site to be Markham Park, so the first shot would be a quick one of a field with a shoe in the middle of the field, and then it cuts to our main character Cam in the car while he listens to music with friends and his friends are having a good time and singing, while cam just sits there and looks out of the window. As the car reaches its destination, which turns out to be Cams house, his friends go into the kitchen and get drinks, while Cam goes into his room. The room has low key lighting and we are going to use close ups to show how emotional Cam is at this time, Cam then glances at a picture of him and who is his dead friend, Leo. He grabs the picture and throws it against the wall and it shatters. Cam the breaks down in tears as he falls down and his friends rush in to accompany him.

This film opening goes with both me and Austin's ideas which I will list below:

My Idea: Throughout the film we learn that Leo was an open gay boy, while Cam was a football player who was not open about his sexuality. We learn through flashbacks that Cam and Leo were secretly seeing each other behind their friends back, and they went to Markham Park to be alone so they can be themselves. Cam does not want this to continue to happen so one night as they sit on a slanted edge (this is an actual location at Markham) Leo comes on to Cam and he says that this cannot happen anymore, as Leo urges him, Cam lightly pushes him off and he slips and take a hard fall onto his neck, snapping it. Cam freaks out and then makes it look like it was a suicide attempt and runs off. We don't find this out until the end of the film, therefore the shot of Markham Park in the beginning of the film is a foreshadow to the films end.

Austins idea: The idea is practically the same as mine, except for the fact that Leo and Cam are not Gay; Leo has bipolar disorder and refuses to take medication for it and becomes violent towards cam and their friends. Cam then intentionally kills Leo.

I will go into detail an give research in my next post on why we should go with my idea.
